I qualified as a pharmacist with Boots in 1983 after attending Nottingham School of Pharmacy. I have worked since as a manager with Boots and then Safeway, West Midlands Co-Op, and latterly independent pharmacies; from January 2011, outside of my employment with the LPC I will be working as a Locum Pharmacist.
I was first elected to the LPC in 1998; I have also served as Vice-Chair of BLT Pharmacy Association, and for two years represented pharmacy contractors in BLT PCT as it was then on their Clinical Governance Committee. I am currently Chair of the South West Staffordshire Pharmacy Association. I have recently been representing Community Pharmacy on the the West Midlands Regional; Medicines Management Board.
In my spare time I have been an avid sportsman, in more recent years swapping rugby for triathlon and running, although knee problems and old age (!) have limited me to swimming and cycling of late! I also enjoy motorcycling (Ducati 600SS), travel, food and wine, and have since 2006 helped to coach my son's rugby team at Stafford RUFC. I live in Penkridge with my wife Lisa and son George.
